Notorious B.O.B made a huge statement at the first ever Roy Rogers slider
contest in Frederick MD , as he beat out his female nemesis Sonya Thomas
37-33 besting her by 4 roast beef sliders in 8 min. A dejected Juliet Lee
came in third with 26 . It certainly was no cakewalk for Shoudt as he battled
Sonya to the very end . With 90 seconds left in the contest , B.O.B and the
Black Widow were neck in neck until Shoudt pulled away in the final
seconds to nail the victory. With the victory in MD Shoudt is a clear
favorite over Pat Bertoletti to take over the #2 spot in the IFOCE rankings
the next time the rankings are updated. Badlands Booker finished a strong
4th with 25. It was like taking candy from a baby when Russ Keeler(22.75)
was presented with a mini trophy for 5th place only to have it taken away in
the next instance by Rich Shea who presented it to the 4th place winner
Badlands Booker. After a 45 lb weight loss Beautifulbrian Seiken competed
wearing an official Roy Rogers cowboy hat while making a strong
comeback tying with Wild Bill Meyers at 14. Big Brian Subich & Pretty Boy
Davekos finished a half a slider apart while Brian prepared for his
upcoming Reality TV show by doing a parody of the Mean Joe Greene
Coke Commercial from the 70's. After the contest all the competitors signed
a large billboard advertisement commemorating the Roy Rogers slider
eating contest . Many of the competitors including Beautifulbrian who
stayed at the Marriot hotel compliments of the people at Roy Rogers has
this to say. "In my 12 yrs as a competitive eater i have never been treated
with such respect and dignity like i was today . Some sponsors have been
gracious but none as gracious and generous as the sponsors that
represent Roy Rogers. This certainly makes up for the lack of class shown
by other sponsors which had left a sour taste in my mouth. I hope this is
the beginning of many more sliders to follow".
